Since freshly calved cows & buffaloes have to face various kind of challenges in first trimester of lactation which include low feed intake/ hunger, involution of uterus, maintaining Body Condition Score (BCS) for sustained milk production, peak milk yield, return to estrus cycle & impregnation and >50% milk production of total lactation yield. Therefore to cope up all these challenges, nutritional management of freshly calved cows & buffaloes must be given utmost attention, but under field conditions freshly calved animals are being managed traditionally in absence of required nutritional inputs.
