Feed Manufacturing Technology (Mini Animal Feed Mill) Transfer

In view of the huge cost of animal feed production and the challenges related to distribution, so far only 15 -16 percent of the market has been made available to the animal feed business relative to the possibilities of animal feed business available in India. Therefore, there is a need to change the established model of animal feed business keeping in view the available market potential. In the established model, animal feed production units are established in a few selected pockets of each state, from where the animal feed produced is sent to different districts/areas of the regions. Since the raw material in animal feed production plants mainly comes from rural areas and the consumption of animal feed produced is also in rural areas, the movement of raw material and finished product greatly increases the cost of production. Therefore, in the new business model, mini animal feed production units have been conceptualized at the local level, at the cluster level of the villages.
