Fodder Treatment
Enrichment of Straw & Stover through Chemical & Biological TreatmentsInadequate availability of green fodder in our country compelled the farmers to utilize dry roughages (Straw & Stover) as primary sources of feed for dairy animals. However in developed countries, feeding of high quality hay to dairy animals is in practice. Therefore due to unavailability of high quality dry roughages, straw (bhusa) and stover (karbi) form the major bulk of livestock feed in India, which is reflected in low productivity of dairy animals.
To enhance the digestibility & availability of nutrients from roughages, a lot of research has been conducted in India & abroad therefore based on the findings of those studies, FarmVic has developed various technologies so that end users/ dairy farmers can be benefitted in order to minimize the feed cost of dairy animals and to maximize the profits from Dairy Animal Farming.

Silage Making
As defined by USDA, ‘Silage is any crop that is harvested green and preserved in a succulent condition by partial fermentation under airtight condition to create anaerobic environment’.
Benefits of Silage:
01
Ensures regular supply of fodder to the dairy animals. |
02
Ensures uniform quality fodder to animals during different seasons. |
03
Silage can be made under almost all weather conditions. |
04
Surplus green fodder can be conserved, minimizing wastage. |
05
Feeding silage is an effective tool for the control of parasitic diseases, as the parasites present in different stages in green fodder are destroyed during ensiling. |
06
Enhances green fodder productivity by improving harvesting intensity. |

Fruit & Vegetable Waste conversion into Fodder
Corresponding to the feed & fodder requirements of entire livestock population of India, we are short of green fodder, roughages and concentrates. Moreover grazing lands are also shrinking due to multiple uses of common land. Area under fodder cultivation is also dipping due to intensive agricultural production to fulfill the food requirement of human beings.
Rising urbanization, changed food habit, emerging opportunities in food value addition and Government policies, numbers of fruits & vegetables processing units are being added day by day in our country. Therefore, a substantial quantity of fruits & vegetable wastes are being generated in all the cropping seasons at all such plants and this waste (if not treated properly) becomes trouble to the processors in term of disposal. On other hand it also becomes the potent cause of environmental pollution and nutrients’ loss, which could be a source of nutrition to the animals.
Therefore, FarmVic developed various technologies to convert fruits & vegetables waste of processing plants into animal fodder.
