TMR (Total Mixed Ration) BLOCK
Conventionally TMR is blend of crop residues (straw/ stover from leguminous & cereal field crops), chopped green fodder/ silage and cereals, cereal by-products & protein sources, feed supplements and feed additives in order to provide balanced ration to the dairy animals. Such TMR is generally prepared and used at commercial dairy farms.
However, for small dairy animal holdings which are predominant in India, a crop residue based TMR is more suitable. It is called ‘Dry TMR’ and presented in ‘Block’ shape. Dry TMR is composed of crop residues (straw/ stover from leguminous & cereal field crops), feed ingredients i.e. cereals, cereal by-products, oil cakes, feed supplements & feed additives. Dry TMR stored for at least 2-3 weeks unlike the conventional TMR. Therefore FarmVic deals in Dry TMR Blocks.
NuAdvantages of feeding Dry TMR Blocks:
01
With every bite or mouthful dairy animals will eat a nutritionally balanced ration |
02
Dry TMR lowers the risk of digestive upset, stabilizes rumen pH and thus optimizes rumen level digestion. This maximizes rumen fermentation and the production of rumen microbial protein. |
03
Saving of labour costs of feeding operations |
04
More control and accuracy over the amount of feed given than separate ingredients |
05
Feeding TMR can increase milk production in dairy animals & improve milk solids content i.e. Milk Fat & SNF. |
06
It’s easier to measure daily feed intake. |
07
By knowing daily intakes, you can correctly balance your cows’ ration, which reduces feed waste and costs. |
